Today you have an opportunity to take a moment to begin to cultivate a mindset of life mastery. Take the time to slow down, listen to your breathing, and appreciate the awesomeness in every moment.
We live in a world, where instant gratification seems to trump the concept of self and otherness; you can lose yourself in not actualizing your possibilities. Life is not about making money alone, it is also about self-discovery and being of service to others. Start working on building your dream, the life you want to create and the mastery you have to share with the world. You might ask, How can I start doing this? Here are three simple steps to explore:
- Developing Mindfulness
Mindfulness helps you to focus your energies, attention, thoughts, behaviour and actions to be more self-aware. Mastering mindfulness helps you to take responsibility for our actions and allows you to develop approaches to be better vanguards of your life and purpose. How will you help find ways to create your life’s masterpiece is through being mindful about the things that matter to you. Mindfulness helps to enhance the relationship you have established with self and others, by allowing you to be present in the moment and be emotionally aware of your goals, purpose and contribution to others.

According to Mirabai Bush, mindfulness creates space to let new information in and to allow us to see how it relates to what we already know. Mindfulness, with its focus, openness, inquisitiveness, and humility, seemed like the perfect approach to help us see things with new perspectives and understanding.
- Developing Boundaries
The expression, ‘there is a time and place for everything under the sun’, applies to your life. Focusing on making a difference for others, doesn’t translate in the need to please everyone. It is having an understanding of the concept of self and others while learning to set boundaries for your life. Understanding that boundaries are not barriers contextually is important. It is a healthy skill that you need to develop to sustain both a great life and meaningful relationships. According to Andrea Mathews, PhD a psychotherapist, writer and a speaker in Psychology Today espouses that boundaries have to do with knowing who we are and what is possible for us to do. They have nothing whatsoever to do with making others do anything. The purpose is so that we can contain ourselves within the parameters of where I stop and others begin. By understanding that, boundaries help to increase your awareness, empower you to guard your energy and foster harnessing your relationships. For your life’s work to have optimal impact, it should be guided by powerful thoughts and plans. Those that are empowering, engaging and enduring, that allow you to listen and honour self. By developing this understanding, it allows you to be present, aware and mindful about how to give your best through your time, commitment and enthusiasm for what you do, not out of obligation, but moreso out of duty to humanity.
- Discovering Your Lifestyle Value Proposition
What are the things you love to do and the very thought of it brings joy, vibrancy and excitement to making the world a better place? Your purpose doesn’t necessarily reflect what you are doing now or where you currently are personally, professionally or creatively. By asking yourself, I am ready to discover what I really want to do to make a difference? The next logical move is to make the change, by deciding to commit and follow through discovering your lifestyle value proposition.
Your lifestyle value proposition is your statement to the world that explains what you are offering, the benefit you provide, for whom and how you are able to do so exceptionally well. It defines who you are willing to serve, the challenges you want to solve and clearly articulate why you are uniquely positioned to provide a pathway for solutions.
According to the American Psychological Association, lifestyle changes are a process that takes time and requires support. Once you make a decision to discover the why, the what and the how; they create pathways for exploration. What you create from your brush strokes in developing mastery emerges from your thoughts, perception and concept of self.
